Blak Box - Four Winds - Blacktown Showgrounds

9 January 2019 to 2 February 2019 Blacktown Showground Precinct, Francis Park, Richmond Rd, NSW, Australia.
Blak Box Sessions run for 55 minutes. Latecomers will not be admitted.

In Urban Theatre Projects' Blak Box, elders and future leaders from Blacktown's Aboriginal community invite audiences into a surround-sound listening pavilion, to hear stories and gain a deeper and broader understanding of contemporary Aboriginality.

In a 21st century campfire experience inspired by the concept of 'deep listening', a soundscape of music and storytellers ranges over thousands of years: a cross-generational dialogue bridging the past and the future.

After a successful opening season at Barangaroo, Blak Box moves to Blacktown - the largest Aboriginal community in Australia - for Sydney Festival. Blak Box is designed by award-winning architect Kevin O'Brien and the deep listening experience Four Winds is curated by Daniel Browning, with lighting by Karen Norris.

If you have access requirements, please contact Urban Theatre Projects 24 hours prior to your session.
Please Note: There is an AUSLAN Interpreted Session available on Saturday 19 January at 6PM.
Blak Box is primarily a listening experience and can be fully enjoyed by patrons who are blind or have low vision.
