BLAK BOX - Barangaroo 2018 [SOLD OUT]

Blak Box Sessions run for either 30 or 60 minutes. All tickets are free of charge. You must arrive 20 minutes prior to your session time. Latecomers will not be admitted.

[SOLD OUT]
Step inside BLAK BOX and experience the First Peoples' concept of 'deep listening'.  Urban Theatre Projects' brand new, state of the art BLAK BOX surround-sound space will be installed on Barangaroo Reserve from June 2 to 24. The harbour-side  pavilion will be filled with a powerful suite of newly commissioned sound works curated by Daniel Browning (presenter of Awaye! on ABC RN).  Entitled 'HumEchoChorus', the works bring together a moving range of contemporary First Peoples voices to respond to the past (echo), present (hum) and future (chorus) of the Barangaroo site.

BLAK BOX is presented by Urban Theatre Projects and supported by Barangaroo Delivery Authority. For more than 35 years Urban Theatre Projects (UTP) has consistently delivered high calibre work that places cultural diversity and under-represented voices front and centre. UTP's award-winning work has been presented at festivals and sites nationally and internationally to critical and audience acclaim. UTP re-imagines what theatre can be and who it can be for, connecting audiences across cultures, generations and geographies. From our home in Sydney's western suburbs, we find new ways to tell contemporary Australian stories and create work that connects the suburbs and the fringe with the city and the mainstage.

If you have access requirements, please contact Urban Theatre Projects 24 hours prior to your session.
Please Note: There is an AUSLAN Interpreted Session available on Sunday June 10 at 2:30pm.
Blak Box is primarily a listening experience and can be fully enjoyed by patrons who are blind or have low vision.
